For over 50 years, we’ve been amplifying Latino voices, preserving culture, and empowering communities in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Through media, arts, and civic engagement, our work ensures stories are told, identities are celebrated, and communities remain visible and heard.
Art builds belonging. Journalism builds power. Together they strengthen our community. When we uplift and amplify Latino storytellers, we own our narrative.
From exhibitions to festivals, we create space for Latino artists to share their work, tell their stories, and shape the cultural identity of the Mission District.
We publish El Tecolote, California’s longest-running bilingual newspaper, providing trusted, community-driven journalism and resources our community won't find elsewhere.
We engage and empower community members through volunteer programs, youth journalism training, and civic participation initiatives.

Bringing Latino art and culture to life
Through programs, storytelling, and civic participation
Each year we produce an array of performing arts events, cultural experiences deeply rooted in our community. Our flagship event is the Encuentro del Canto Popular festival which is now in its 35th year.
A gallery space dedicated to celebrating emerging and established Latino artists exploring identity, justice, and cultural heritage through powerful visual art.
Concert series like Encuentritos and Encuentro del Canto Popular honor music and dance as vehicles for healing and resistance, creating spaces where families celebrate culture and share stories across generations.
